Arachne: reimagined. The truth looms.
A brand-new, Greek mythology-inspired musical will premiere at Edinburgh
Festival Fringe 2023.
Venue: Underbelly Bristo Square
Petrichor Productions and Prickly Pear Productions co-present God Catcher, a new
musical by Cassie Muise and Tyler McKinnon.
God Catcher reimagines the story of Arachne, the most talented weaver in all ancient Greece. According to the myth, Arachne defeats the goddess Athena in a weaving challenge, and is turned into a spider as punishment.
But is that all there is to Arachne's story?
The gods can be cruel – and who benefits when a story is told a certain way?
Through catchy tunes and heartfelt lyrics, God Catcher explores the legacy of a
woman who dared to tell the truth, no matter the cost.
With the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Arts Council Malta, God Catcher features the talent of 11 artists from across Canada, the UK, Malta and beyond, including actors and a live band.
Always curious and interested in Greek mythology, Cassie had the idea for God Catcher while discussing mythology early in the pandemic. Tyler joined the team in October 2020, and the show had its first workshop at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in January 2022.
