About The Thistle and The Rose: Activity day
August 1503 saw huge celebrations at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for the marriage of James IV, the thistle, and Margaret Tudor, the rose. Join us 520 years later to discover more about this importance historical event.
Shield making - Discover the story behind some famous flowers and animal symbols and create a special shield to take home.
Mini jousting - After this historic marriage a joust look place at the Palace. Have a go out at our fun mini jousting activity.
Short talks - Discover more about this historically significant marriage in a short talk exploring the many ceremonies and celebrations that took place.
Talks will take place at 11:00, 12:00 and 14:00.
