Join us in a collective trance state as our orchestra explores the relationship between music and mental health with live orchestra, tea drinking ceremonies, bells and short guided meditations. Ticket includes a complimentary herbal tea.
Three thousand years ago, the ancient Greeks recognised the special power of music to heal and doctors would often prescribe listening to music as a remedy or cure for various ailments.
Tonight, we harness the power of music to unlock our creative potential, reach a deeper level of consciousness and bring fresh insights to popular classical orchestra repertoire including music by Grieg, Satie, Debussy and Mozart.
The Scottish Meditation Orchestra is directed by Royal Conservatoire alumni Matthew Shiel, who will also direct the Adagio from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major from the piano.
These concert experiences are a wonderful way to wind down after a busy week, whether working or ‘Edinburgh Fringing.'
There will be a retiring collection in aid of mental health charity Mind.
PROGRAMME:
Morning Mood Op. 23 - Grieg
Gymnopedie No. 1 - Satie (arr. Debussy)
Pavane Op. 50 - Faure
Adagio from Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major - Mozart
Meditation from Thais - Massenet
