'In my drawings, I aim to reflect characteristic aspects of individual landscapes but also to represent my experience and memory of spending time there. From being in these places - often for extended periods and over many years - to creating the drawings, I look to challenge my own expectations, familiarity and comfort.' - says Blake.
Blake is originally from the USA and lives in Edinburgh. He holds a BFA in fine art from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and an MA in art history/museum studies from the University of Denver. In recent years, Blake has re-prioritised making art after many years of curatorial work for the Denver Art Museum, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, the National Galleries of Scotland and the National Library of Scotland.
