Learn the basics of crochet in this three-hour taster session with experienced crochet tutor Karen Thomson
Crochet is an addictive, rewarding and mindful craft that will keep you happy for years to come. This taster session will be suitable or beginners or as a refresher, if you’ve crocheted before.
In this session we will cover the crochet basics;
o explore and experiment with different ways to hold your hook and yarn
o learn to make crochet chains
o learn and practice two basic stitches you’ll need to begin your crochet journey
o begin making a granny square
o we will also consider the importance of tension and using different weights of yarn
The humble granny square can enhance any blanket with beautiful colour and texture, as well as a plethora of other makes. Learning to make a granny square can provide an essential construct of beginner’s crochet.
Each participant will take home their own 100% wool yarn and crochet hook to continue practising at home.
Remember that in crochet it’s easy to take your work back and start again – relax.
