Opera Caledonia returns to St. Vincent’s Chapel, Edinburgh from Thursday 19th December to Saturday 21st December 2024 to present “Carols by Candlelight” – with six opportunities to enjoy a festive evening of entertainment complete with mince pies and mulled wine for all!
The beautiful surroundings of St. Vincent’s Chapel will once again provide an excellent escape from the cold and the hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers. Join operatic soprano Rachael Brimley (Chorus of Scottish Opera) as she sings her way through everybody’s favourite Christmas carols and songs accompanied by piano. There will even be the opportunity for some (optional) audience participation!
The programme will feature a selection of traditional carols such as “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”, “Silent Night”, “Once In Royal David’s City” and “Away In A Manger” alongside more popular items from everybody’s festive playlist including “White Christmas”, “The Christmas Song” and “Sleigh Ride”.
Described by The Herald Scotland as “lyrical and precise”, Rachael Brimley is a prize winning graduate of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied with Judith Howarth. Rachael continued her studies with ENO Opera Works and British Youth Opera and was part of the Young Artist programme at Opera Holland Park where she has since returned to perform. She now works regularly with Scottish Opera, performing Chorus in many productions including Rusalka, The Mikado, The Marriage of Figaro, La bohème, La Traviata, Eugene Onegin, Tosca, Nixon in China and The Gondoliers.
Please note that this event is suitable for children age 4+. All children (under 18yo) must have their own ticket and must be accompanied by a paying adult. It is not possible to transfer tickets between performances. Tickets are non-refundable. Artists and programme are subject to alteration.
