Born Free Forever is a free, family friendly, outdoor sculpture installation, the largest of its kind in the UK. Its centrepiece is the iconic Elsa the Lioness on top of a 4x4 as depicted in the much-loved 1966 film Born Free, starring charity founder Virginia McKenna OBE. Each lion in the exhibition tells a powerful story about the catastrophic plight facing these magnificent creatures which could become extinct in the wild within 30 years.
From 6th October 2022, our lion pride can be found at The Meadows, Edinburgh, EH8 9LJ, with an additional 'mini pride' at St Andrew Square Gardens, where they will remain in residence until January 2023. Please come and visit, marvel at the stunning sculptures and learn the true stories behind the Born Free lion pride.
• Free, family-friendly, outdoor exhibition highlights plight facing the world’s lions
• Locals and tourists can visit the once-in-a-lifetime exhibition at The Meadows for the next 3 months
• Studies predict lions could be extinct across much of their wild range in less than 30 years as numbers plummet by 90% since the 1960s
