The Zarzuela, a Spanish tradition.
Anyone with knowledge of Edinburgh musicals, operetta or opera will find some familiar aspects in Zarzuela, the Spanish popular opera which reached its definitive form in the 19th century as a mixture of instrumental music, singing, dancing.
Instituto Cervantes in Manchester presents Tribute to Zarzuela, a fantastic concert of classical music with the award-winning soprano Laura Alonso Padín and the famous pianist and composer Manuel Valencia Segarra in a repertoire with classics of the Zarzuela by authors such as Manuel de Falla, Joaquín Nin and Amadeo Vives, among others.
