Join us for the pilot tour of our British Sign Language (BSL) tour at Gladstone's Land!
Gladstone's Land is a traditional 16th-century tenement building. It has been a commercial and social hub for more than 500 years and has witnessed momentous social and political change. From the rise of international trade and new social classes emerging, we provide a glimpse into life in Edinburgh's historic Old Town.
Each floor represents a different century, viewed through the lense of one of Gladstone's Land residents. The tour is interactive and items in the Visitor Experience can be handled and explored.
PLEASE NOTE!
The 1hr tour is conducted in British Sign Language (BSL), guided by John Hay.
In accordance with the National Trust for Scotland's commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Gladstone's Land is aiming to provide regular BSL tours for visitors.
The two pilot tours are free of charge, but we kindly ask permission of guests to answer a few questions after the tour, which will be filmed for evaluation purposes. The feedback will be used to optimise the tour to ensure the best possible experience for the Deaf community and hopefully introduce similar projects for other NTS properties in the future.
Any queries or concerns, please contact us!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
