Frankie says f*ck it. This Fringe, hide out in the toilets and escape the reality of love, life, and auditions.
Turning up late, drunk, and uninvited at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a brand-new show from actor-writer Cláudia Saavedra. This debut solo show explores love, loss, London and finding yourself when all you really want to do is stay in bed and have wine for breakfast.
Frankie wants to conform. Frankie also wants to drink wine for breakfast. Having watched all the rom-coms and scrutinising every self-help book in Waterstones, she now believes she can make it as an actress by doing jack shit. In her abrupt move to London, what could really go wrong? A frank, funny, irreverent story about the struggles of trying to live your dream in a world of dodgy landlords, dodgy auditions, and even dodgier boyfriends. We must all grow up and follow society’s standards, but who made up those rules anyway? What happens when you poo in a park as an adult? Or tell a one night stand he’s doing it wrong? What happens when you truly say “fuck it”?
This debut play arrives at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe following a hit one-night-stand premiere performance at London's Etcetera Theatre. A tragicomedy that invites its audience to stop worrying whilst exploring and giving a voice to the the struggles we all face but don’t discuss. The Best Ideas Happen in The Toilet is thought-provoking and funny, but is here at the Fringe to provide comic relief, dick jokes, and some very relatable content. With the fourth wall becoming almost invisible, audiences are invited to participate and bring theatre back to what it used to be.
