About Scotland’s Gardens Scheme Open Garden: Redcroft and Innerwick House

23 and 19 Murrayfield Road, Edinburgh EH12 6EP
James & Anna Buxton and Maryla & Edward Green

Innerwick House 19 Murrayfield Road, Edinburgh EH12 6EP (Maryla and Edward Green): Innerwick, next door to Redcroft, is in the main a late Georgian home with a garden that surrounds the house. The owners like a tailored and structured garden and box has been planted to border the house. Flowering shrubs are to be found in some of the beds, but the terrace is bordered with roses, hydrangeas and box, with pots to add colour and variety. There is a large lawn where children can enjoy a bouncy castle and swings are to be found hanging from the horse chestnut in the front garden.

Redcroft 23 Murrayfield Road, Edinburgh EH12 6EP (James and Anna Buxton): Redcroft is a mature walled garden surrounding an attractive Arts and Crafts house. It is a hidden haven off a busy road with a variety of different features and habitats: old shrubberies, an orchard, a rockery, a pond, and a large lawn with contrasting longer grass. It is well maintained with many clipped shrubs - some of them quite unusual - and some cloud pruning. May is very colourful with rhododendrons and many other flowering shrubs and wall plants, and the greenhouse is full of tender plants. There will be tulips in pots and many other spring bulbs. Children and buggies are very welcome and there will be plenty of activities. We hope older children will enjoy our treehouse. Dogs on leads welcome.

Directions: Murrayfield Road runs north from Corstorphine Road to Ravelston Dykes. There is easy free parking available. Buses 12, 26, 31, get off at Murrayfield Stadium. Bus 38 goes up Murrayfield Road.

Other details: There will be a bumper SGS PLANT SALE at Redcroft. Music in the garden: No Strings Attached Community Wind Band will play on Saturday afternoon and Gael Force Wind will play on Sunday. Teas and home baking available at both gardens.
