Step by to celebrate with us the opening of Spring Cleaning, 6 – 8 pm, 24th March, at 18 Spey Street Lane, Leith, and running until 15th May.
Baskwell Arts’ third group art & craft show will feature makers, painters, designers and crafters or all disciplines from across Scotland, UK and Europe whose practice reflects or celebrates the season in its diverse forms.
Spring represents many initially positive things: cleanliness, purity, freshness, birth; but these, associate to the gentler sex mostly, become entangled in forced concepts and hide the messiness and cathartic element of the season too. The show will explore the constraints and joys of domesticity, the explosive female processes of new beginnings and old entrapments: claustrophobia, rebirth, and our relationship with housekeeping as a cultural extension of the female body.
The beautiful, provocative or simply vibrant objects, among which ceramics, woodwork, textiles, paintings or jewelry, will also be available for purchase through our website.
We hope to see you there!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
