We’re delighted to announce that this year’s edition of the annual Spilt Milk members show is now live to view on our website.
Acting balance[d] brings together 30 contemporary artists who consider what it means to be a mother and artist in the current climate.
Responding to the words ‘Balance, Pressure, Centred’ the selected works explore the artists’ unique experiences of navigating the duality of Mother and Artist roles in life, art and all that is in between. Humorous, confronting and questioning, the show touches on themes of mental health, the mythic and the contextualisation of self in society.
What does it mean to try and negotiate the balance of our responsibilities? What value do we place on maintaining an equilibrium? What really is realistic?
This is the fourth annual members exhibition from Edinburgh based Spilt Milk Gallery, and the second online edition due to the ongoing pandemic. With a fast growing international membership of nearly 250 artists, the members show is an excellent opportunity to view the diverse practices of our members; all contemporary artists who identify as mothers.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
