The real-life events that inspired the series
A wall in the north cuts the world in two. Sea wolves raid the coasts in their galleys. A young noble and his kin are betrayed and slaughtered within a mighty castle. Yet this isn’t Westeros – it’s Scottish history.
It's no secret that Scotland inspired elements in George R R Martin's world, and it works both ways. Through Game of Thrones, we can learn about the forces that shaped Scottish history.
Join writer, historian, and former NTS guide and 'battlemaster' David C. Weinczok in a talk based on his book, The History Behind Game of Thrones: The North Remembers.
Tea and biscuits included in the ticket price of £4 (free for NTS staff/volunteers)
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
