About Blues Afternoon
Recreating the formula of the much loved Blues Afternoons, EJBF21 presents a triple bill of blues bands. New band Kultura mix blues with a little jazz. Always upbeat, always high-energy, Edinburgh blues star, harmonica and singer, Dana Dixon delivers simmering ballads to storming rockers all based around her love of Chicago blues. “Scotland’s latest sensation” (Blues Matters), Redfish close the set with a blistering mix of blues, roots, jazz and soul.
Making their EJBF debut, Kultura are a young band from Edinburgh. Playing mostly original tunes, their sets are a journey through their collective musical cultures and influences, blending styles and sounds of blues, jazz and improvisation.
The Dana Dixon Band “Blues & Roots”
Singer and Harmonica player Dana Dixon goes back to her roots for this EJBF21 performance. Dana will lead her band through a mix of original material and some classic covers heavily influenced by her love of electric Chicago blues.
Dana Dixon is a powerhouse of a blues vocalist and arguably one of the greatest female blues harmonica players of current times having toured with and shared the stage with blues legends such as James Harman and Lazy Lester.
Redfish Blues Band
Described by Blues Matters Magazine as “Scotland’s latest sensation”, Redfish are a Scottish based soul-blues ensemble. A live phenomenon of growing reputation, this five-piece outfit mix original compositions with interpretations of classics from the canon. Impassioned vocals from lead singer Stumblin’ Harris are underpinned by the tightest of rhythm sections featuring guitarist Martin McDonald and keyboard player Fraser Clark.
