About Digital Talk: Introduction to the Japanese Art of Tea (Chado) – A Cup of Peace and Simplicity

The Tea Ceremony is the heart of Japanese culture. Zen Master Sen no Rikyu (1522-1591) is the founder of Senke tea schools and his philosophy of the way of tea is: Harmony, Respect, Purity and Tranquillity. Mio Shudo, an Edinburgh based Urasenke Japanese Tea Master will give a talk on the history, relevance and impact of the tea ceremony on Japanese culture aided by an illustrated powerpoint presentation and a short video.

Following the presentation there will be time for a Q&A with Mio Shudo.

Free, but registration is required.

All attendees will be sent joining instructions in advance of the event. Please check your junk/spam folder if you don't hear from us by an hour before.

The lecture will be on Microsoft Teams, so if you join us on a mobile device (mobile phone or tablet) you will need to download the app (free) from the App Store / Google Play Store beforehand.
