This Christmas, Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh’s Science Centre and Planetarium, is transforming once again into a Winter Wonderland where science meets Santa – bringing festive sparkle, storytelling and discovery to the heart of the city.
From 29 November to 23 December, visitors can enjoy a programme of events for all ages, including:

Santa’s Polar Grotto – Edinburgh’s only grotto set beneath the Northern Lights. Families are guided by Head Elf Polaris through a magical Arctic adventure, meeting Santa and his Polar Protectors — the polar bear, arctic fox, snowy owl and arctic hare. Each child leaves with a special cuddly gift to take home.

Festive Family Films – Big-screen favourites return, including The Polar Express, The Grinch, Home Alone and Elf, shown on selected weekends and daily in the run-up to Christmas.

Seasonal Science Clubs – “Reindeer Games” workshops for children aged 0–6 explore how reindeer thrive in polar environments through hands-on discovery, crafts and soft play.

Aurora Borealis Planetarium Show – Back by popular demand, this immersive experience takes audiences on a dazzling journey through the science and spectacle of the Northern Lights.
