EDINBURGH WHISKY CLUB JOINS FORCES WITH INDIAN CONSULATE TO HOST SPECIAL WHISKY TASTING TAKEOVER
The one-off celebration of Indian single malt whisky will feature bespoke cocktails, Scottish-Indian canapés and whisky tasting stations
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) has teamed up with the Consulate General of India in Edinburgh to offer a night of fine Indian single malt whisky tasting, delicious Scottish-Indian cuisine and stories from India’s diverse whisky regions later this month.
The full townhouse takeover, A Journey in Flavour: From India to Edinburgh, will take place at 28 Queen Street on Monday, 28 April and will offer members of the public a rare look behind the curtains into the Member’s Room of the famous Edinburgh institution. Queen Street’s Kaleidoscope Bar remains open to the public year-round, while the rest of the rooms are usually only accessible to Society members.
The evening will feature Indian and Scottish whisky experts who will offer insights into the art of Indian whisky-making, as well as drams from luxury Indian whisky brands including Indri, Amrut, Rampur, Paul John and Godawan.
On arrival guests will receive a specially crafted whisky cocktail inspired by Indian flavours before having the chance to explore a series of tasting stations to sample a selection of expressions from India’s finest single malt whisky distilleries. Scottish-Indian canapés will served throughout the evening, including cauliflower bhaji with whisky ketchup, smoked haddock kedgeree arancini with curried raisin aioli and mango lassi choux.
Kyle Gow, Venue Manager at Queen Street, said: “The Indian whisky market is booming and there is huge appetite among our members for Indian single malt whiskies, so we jumped at the opportunity to partner with the Consulate General of India to host this unique venue takeover. The event will be a chance to celebrate the innovation of the Indian whisky industry, sample some delicious Scottish-Indian cuisine and try some really exciting Indian drams.”
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is renowned for its exceptional single cask releases and flavour-first approach, offering members exclusive access to a unique range of Scottish and international whiskies, expert curation and a vibrant whisky community.
