Only 288 bottles made exclusive to Historic Environment Scotland
A limited edition whisky has been produced celebrating Edinburgh Castle’s iconic One O’Clock Gun and is available to purchase from Stor, the online shop of Historic Environment Scotland, and the Edinburgh Castle Whisky and Finest Food Shop.
The One O'Clock Gun Whisky has been distilled at the Glenallachie distillery in Speyside. The spirit was filled into an ex-bourbon hogshead cask in October 2007, where it remained for 17 years before being bottled by Edinburgh Whisky Co.
With a run of only 288 bottles, the Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a delicate nose of golden syrup, dried fruits, and baked pastries, developing into a palate of lemon curd, ginger, and more honey - providing a long lingering finish with spicy oak.
Chosen specially from the extensive inventory at Edinburgh Whisky’s bonded warehouse, the whisky was bottled from a single cask at a natural strength of 56.5% abv, un-chill filtered and with all-natural colour from the cask.
Natasha Troitino, Head of Retail at HES, said: “The One O’Clock Gun is an iconic part of Edinburgh’s heritage, fired daily at precisely 1pm since 1861. What better way to celebrate this unique part of our history than with a suitably unique whisky. Available exclusively on Stor.scot, why not enjoy a dram of something special and toast to our city's past? Sláinte!”
John Moffat, Head of Sales at Gleann Mór Spirits Company, said: “It’s been a pleasure working with the Historic Environment Scotland team to bring this unique single cask whisky to market. As someone who has lived in Edinburgh for most of my life, the One O’Clock Gun has always been a familiar sound, and it’s fantastic to see this collaboration between Edinburgh Whisky and Edinburgh Castle come to fruition. A truly fitting tribute to a iconic city landmark.”
The One O'Clock Gun limited edition whisky can be purchased for £185 for 700ml, 56.5% alc./vol from Stor or the Edinburgh Castle Whisky and Finest Food Shop.
Alcohol can only be purchased by a person aged 18 or over.
