Those looking to celebrate Scotland’s heritage by raising a glass to Rabbie Burns this Burns Night (January, 25th) need look no further than Johnnie Walker Princes Street, located in the centre of Edinburgh. The venue will be marking Rabbie’s birthday by serving up a Burns Supper, plus three whisky cocktails inspired by world-famous Scottish ingredients such as haggis and cranachan.
Not usually known as staple cocktail flavours, the bar team at Johnnie Walker Princes Street’s 1820 Rooftop Bar, have used their flair for flavour and creativity to offer guests a range of drinks which pay heed to the venue’s proud Scottish heritage, not just in Scotch whisky but in ingredients which are synonymous with the home of Robert Burns.
Additionally, an elevated Burns Supper will be on the 1820 Rooftop menu between 23-30th January and is bookable now, making sure guests can enjoy a Burns like no other at the World’s Leading Spirit Tourism Experience*. The menu includes creamy Cullen skink, flavoursome haggis, pickled neeps, potato cakes, and whisky sauce, all finishing with cranachan topped with a specially created Johnnie Walker Gold Label custard.

Iron Brew + Vanilla Ice Cream
The distinct flavour of Iron Brew, combined with Scotch whisky and topped with vanilla cream foam, make for an adventurous, creamy highball this Burns Night.
Holding on to Iron Brew’s famous ginger colour, Vault City’s Iron Brew Sour Beer is the base of this unique concoction and has an indescribable, yet perfectly sweet flavour which stirs up a dash of nostalgia. Built with Johnnie Walker Gold Label over ice, and topped with vanilla cream foam, this is a cocktail that will intrigue and delight Scots and tourists alike.
Dark Chocolate + Haggis Spice
Haggis - The ‘Great Chieftain o’ the Puddin-race’ - so delicious, Burns himself wrote a poem about it.
Using a house-made Haggis Spice Amaro, Miran Chauhan Johnnie Walker Princes Street’s head of drinks development and his talented team of bartenders, have expertly balanced the gentle spice of Scotland’s national dish with a decadent and a creamy chocolate finish. Held in casks in the venue’s cellar, the team have used the limited-edition Johnnie Walker Harris Tweed for this cocktail, playing on its subtle smokiness and peppery spice to ensure this cocktail honours the best bits of its inspiration ingredient.
Haggis might divide opinion, but served with block ice and topped with a gold chocolate coin, this one is sure to win over anyone with doubts. Miran said: “Haggis is one of Scotland’s most delicious, but divisive foods. The complexity of the dish means it has so much to offer in terms of taste and inspiration. We’ve reflected the depth of flavour people love in haggis with our house-made haggis spice amaro, while a dash of treacle and Gabriel Boudier Creme de Cacao lifts the flavour creating a perfect sweet and savoury tipple. Cranachan + Hibiscus
Light and refreshing, the cranachan cocktail is a perfect celebration of Scottish traditions. A modern and luxury twist on the dessert, often expected after a Burns Supper, is made up of fruit, oats and cereal - each of which can be pinpointed in this creamy and effervescent highball.
A refreshing combination of Johnnie Walker Black Label, house-made hibiscus syrup, vegan cream and cranachan soda by award-winning local soft drink producer, Rapscallion, and available as zero-alcohol option, this is a cocktail not to be missed.
