An Edinburgh restaurant has revealed that the year one sales of its most popular dish, equals approximately the same weight as the Edinburgh Accies Rugby team.
Café Andaluz Stockbridge celebrated one year at Raeburn Place by inviting the entire Accies team to tuck into its most popular dish, Albondigas (Spanish meatballs).
In its first year, diners to the Stockbridge restaurant have enjoyed a whopping 25,000 Albongidas, 16,000 portions of patatas bravas, 10,500 croquetas, 9500 calamares and 9,000 dishes of gambas pil pil.
The brand, now in its 22nd year, first opened its doors on Creswell Lane in the West End of Glasgow and since then, has seen an estimated 7.3 million customers come through the door.
To celebrate, the Stockbridge venue is offering diners a complimentary portion of Albondigas this week between 4pm - 6pm this Friday 29 November.
Area General Manager Ailsa Reid, who has been with Café Andaluz for over 15 years, said: "We’ve absolutely loved being part of the vibrant Stockbridge community and its fantastic culinary scene. This venue has a family feel, and it’s been wonderful welcoming both regulars and visitors through our doors.
"When we realised just how much tapas we’d served, we knew we had to invite our good friends at the Edinburgh Accies to celebrate our first year in Stockbridge – especially as the meatballs alone matched the team’s weight!"
The popular restaurant brought a taste of Spain to one of Edinburgh’s most charming areas when it opened last November. The venue is the third Café Andaluz restaurant to open in the capital, and the seventh in the UK.
Cafe Andaluz Stockbridge is rooted in the brand’s signature Spanish style, with a light and bright interior, and serves Iberian-inspired tapas menu from breakfast through to late in the evening.
