On Wednesday 7th August from 10am until 4pm, Edinburgh Waverley Station will be home to a waiting room with a difference, the LNER Our Planet Can’t Wait-ing Room.

Visit an interactive waiting room with a difference designed to inspire families to think and travel more sustainably with special guest and LNER ‘Carbon Saving Conductor’, Kate Humble

People are invited to come down and enjoy an interactive experience – a waiting room with a difference - curated by LNER aimed at inspiring people to consider travelling in a more sustainable way.

Transforming an area close to one of the busiest waiting rooms along the LNER route, this free experience is a fun way for families to learn more about the environment and the role train travel can play in supporting our planet.

Throughout the day ‘Our Planet Can’t Wait-ing Room’ guests will be able to take part in a variety of activities* including:

• Cut the carbon confusion with the LNER ‘Carbon Saving Departures Board’ which equates the emissions that passengers save on a typical weekday departing by train with LNER heading southbound from Edinburgh (as opposed to car and plane) to easily recognisable objects, animals and places, including Highland cows, bagpipes and the Loch Ness monster

• Discover the superpower of algae and its secret, air purifying properties through the magic of microscopes

• Turn plastic waste into products with cutting edge 3D printing technology. LNER is helping turn plastic waste into products through 3D printing. Whilst stocks last, guests will even be given their own, special 3D-printed plant pot as a special planet friendly gift!

• Participate in a plant-a-thon, with opportunities to add a special air purifying plant to a planter that will help remove carbon dioxide out of the air

• Pick a packet of wildflower seeds from the interactive seed wall to sew at home

With many more fun activities on offer throughout the day.
