Edinburgh’s award-winning country estate Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club has teamed up with Darnley’s, the celebrated Scottish gin brand from Fife, to unveil a stunning new Darnley’s Gin Terrace complete with floral-themed parasols, deck chairs, outdoor seating complementing spectacular views out over the 18th hole of the famous James Braid championship golf course.
This south-east facing suntrap in front of the impressive Manor House offers the perfect place to pause, socialise and savour Darnley’s Gin on the rocks as well as an exclusive new menu of Darnley’s Gin cocktails including a specially curated signature Darnley’s Bramble Gin serve*, an exclusive Darnley’s Gin Flight Trio with Original, Spiced and Navy Strength gins, paired mixers and tasting notes to enjoy for only £26. All manner of refreshing drinks, delicious seasonal menus and Traditional Afternoon Tea are also served on the Darnley’s Terrace with prices from £32.
Infused with nature, each bottle of Darnley’s Gin begins with the highest quality all natural ingredients based on British-grown grain spirit and an array of the finest, local and sustainably sourced botanticals, and the freshest Scottish water without the addition of any extra flavours or sugars post-distillation. It is the botanicals steeped in the base spirit that allow for all the outstanding flavours and oils to shine through.
A crisp, tasty, London Dry Gin created by Wemyss Family Spirits, Darnley’s is named after the time when Mary Queen of Scots first met her future husband Lord Darnley at Wemyss Castle in 1565. Hand-crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this award-winning gin has a truly distinctive flavour profile with a burst of zesty citrus on the palate and a winning combination of botanicals of juniper, mellow spice and subtle notes of elderflower, which grows wild around the Wemyss family estate.
It also features Fife-grown malted barley and is distilled within the grounds of the picturesque Kingsbarns Distillery, located at the East Newhall Farm outside the charming village of Kingsbarns.
Kirsty Mackinnon, Brand Manager for Wemyss Family Spirits, said:
“Dalmahoy is one of Edinburgh’s true gems, showcasing a rich blend of history, stunning architecture, leisure activities, and award-winning championship golf courses, all set within acres of beautiful parkland. With the emphasis on nature and socialising, our brand, deeply rooted in natural elements, perfectly complements Dalmahoy’s new Darnley’s Gin Terrace with its expansive views over the golf course and grounds."
Colin Richards, General Manager of Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, said:
“We’re really excited to unveil our new Gin Terrace in collaboration with Darnley’s. The views from the Pentland Restaurant and Terrace offers visitors an incredibly scenic outdoor setting to socialise and enjoy Darnley’s Gin.
“There’s a lack of great outdoor spaces in and around Edinburgh and we’re confident that our new Terrace will meet a gap in the market and enhance Dalmahoy's reputation as a premier destination for leisure and relaxation, seamlessly blending our heritage with the contemporary sophistication of Darnley's distinctive spirits. Our new Gin Terrace is poised to become a preferred spot for both gin aficionados and those seeking an atmospheric al fresco experience.”
Weather permitting, Darnley’s Terrace at Dalmahoy is open from 11am to sunset, seven days a week for guests, members and visitors. No pre-booking is required. The Darnley’s Gin Flight can be booked via the Cocktail Bar.
