Fhior on Broughton Street is celebrating the abundant Scottish summer produce with a completely plant-based version of its popular ‘Mixtapes’ supper club series, on Saturday 22nd and Saturday 29th of June.
Chef-owner Scott Smith will be showcasing an all-vegan menu of beautifully curated dishes, with paired drinks by sommelier Phil Provart. Mixtapes is an intimate supper club for up to 10 people, taking guests on a culinary journey inspired by the diverse creativity of music mixtapes. The team curates a fresh menu every month, including some of their current favourites, new releases, and early previews of what is in development, using inventive techniques to highlight limited seasonal ingredients.
Mixtapes is held within Fhior’s intimate private dining room and kitchen, which means that each dish is cooked and served directly in front of you by their chefs: giving you a front row view into each step of the menu. The exclusivity of seats at the table allows menus to feature rare, more unique ingredients that are in too short supply for the restaurant’s main menu.
The ingredients -
Wild Garlic Capers
Strawberries
Fermented Asparagus
Fermented Wild Leeks
Buckwheat Miso
Aspergillus Oryzae
Wild Mushrooms
Barley
Gooseberries
Peas
Wild Watercress
The full menu is only revealed as the night unfolds, creating an air of excitement and discovery. The Mixtapes experience usually lasts around three hours, to allow the evening to leisurely unfold, course by course, sip by sip, as you immerse yourself in a unique gastronomic evening.
Fhior, which opened in June 2018, is a fine dining Scottish restaurant, co-owned by husband-and-wife team, Scott and Laura Smith, with Scott heading up the kitchen. Since opening, the restaurant has won numerous awards and is listed in the Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide. Fhior’s ethos lies in showcasing Scottish produce and elevating the flavours that the country has to offer. Guests visiting the restaurant can choose between a seven or ten-course tasting menu – a dining experience that delivers a constantly evolving series of dishes.
These special, vegan Mixtapes events will take place on Saturday 22nd and Saturday 29th of June, starting at 7pm. Tickets cost £110, and are fully inclusive of all food, drinks and service for the evening.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of this event, any additional dietary requirements or allergies cannot be catered for.
