Two neighbourhood restaurants - Fhior on Broughton Street and Pomelo from Sciennes Road - are teaming up on Sunday the 21st of April to bring a fusion of their cuisines to Edinburgh city centre.
Chef-owners Scott Smith (Fhior) and Jun Au (Pomelo) will collaborate on a five-course menu that will infuse Fhior’s clean, precise, and seasonal cooking with the big-hitting Asian flavours the Pomelo is so loved for, to bring something new and exciting to the city for one night only. The chefs will alternate courses, with a collaborative main course taking centre stage. Expect big flavours, a bit of heat, and good tunes, in Fhior’s intimate but relaxed private dining space with a chef’s table.
The two chefs met several years ago, when Jun joined Scott’s kitchen team at Fhior. It wasn’t long after that Jun opened his own restaurant, Pomelo, in 2021, but the pair remained friends and often spoke about collaborating on a menu together one day.
Fhior, which opened in June 2018, is a fine dining Scottish restaurant, co-owned by husband-and-wife team, Scott and Laura Smith, with Scott heading up the kitchen. Since opening, the restaurant has won numerous awards and is listed in the Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide. Fhior’s ethos lies in showcasing Scottish produce and elevating the flavours that the country has to offer. Guests visiting the restaurant can choose between a seven or ten-course tasting menu – a dining experience that delivers a constantly evolving series of dishes.
Cafe Pomelo, which has a cult following, serves Asian fusion small plates, created to be shared with friends and family, and paired with natural wines from their partners at Ancestral Wines in London. The aim with Pomelo was to cultivate and nurture young Asian hospitality talent by allowing chefs and front-of-house staff to use their various backgrounds and allow them the freedom of expressing their culture through food and service.
The collaboration dinners will be taking place across two sittings - 5:30pm and 8:00pm - on Sunday, 21st of April . This event will be limited to only 14 covers per sitting, with the option of sitting at Fhior’s 10-seat communal table, or at one of their 4 spaces on the kitchen table.
Communal table - £65 + booking fee
Kitchen table - £75 + booking fee
