Jollyes in Edinburgh is inviting people to come and celebrate its first birthday this weekend by enjoying a special Santa Roadshow!
This fun festive event will take place at Jollyes’ flagship pet store, at Hermiston Gait Retail Park, Cultins Road, Edinburgh, EH11 4DF this Saturday (9 December 2023).
Santa will be visiting the venue, hosting two shows, at 12pm and 2pm.
Jollyes mascot. Jollyes Joe, will be there to meet and greet customers and there will also be prizes to be won.
It marks a “phenomenal” first year in Edinburgh.
Jollyes’ Edinburgh store manager and regional support manager Angie Rennie said: “We’re all super excited to see everyone at our event on Saturday!
“We have Santa coming with two shows, we’ll have balloons, our Jollyes Joe mascot and lots more.
“We have worked hard to make our store look as Christmasy as we can, with lots of lights and decorations up.
“We will be continuing to raise money for the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home (EDCH), which is a massive charity locally. We chose them because of the superb work they do in our community and because they care for both cats and dogs.
“Our store is usually busy on a Saturday anyway, but this Saturday is going to be extra special.
"It will be a real cause for celebration after we opened in Edinburgh on Friday 9 December last year - although I’m hoping for better weather!
Angie joined Jollyes after working for leading retailers in Scotland including Home Bargains, Marks & Spencer and Tesco and was promoted after launching the new Jollyes store in Stirling in June last year.
Like other Jollyes colleagues, she has lots of hands-on experience with animals as a ‘pet mum’ to husky-collie cross Blue, aged 4; border collie Mollie, aged 4; and cat Misty, 7.
She said: “Our opening day last year went really well, with a dedicated Jollyes tram, a piper to greet arrivals at Edinburgh Bark Station and lots of goodie bags being given away.
“Princess the Unicorn arrived on the Saturday, but it snowed! It made for a beautiful backdrop for photos, but it put a lot of people off from coming out. It was freezing.
“We are hoping for much better weather this Saturday!
“This has been a phenomenal first year for us. We are one of Jollyes best performing stores, and we’re so grateful that people in Edinburgh have really taken us to their hearts. It has been a joy to be here.
“Our customers have really appreciated our team. When you see what people are saying in their reviews on Trustpilot and other review sites, that our colleagues are so engaging and so helpful, then it is just amazing.
“We have lots of regular customers now who come back time and time again, whether they’re buying birds, or hamsters, or pet food, or pet accessories.
“They recognise Jollyes for our fantastic value and the expert knowledge of our team.
“I have two dogs and a cat, and most of my colleagues are pet owners too. My Deputy Manager, Eddie Keating, has just seen his pets have three lots of litters!
“It means members of our team are able to share their experiences of what has happened to them, they can share their knowledge, and also their passion for animals.”
Edinburgh is a special store for Jollyes – it was the first to offer a new concept frozen raw food ‘shop-in-shop’, combined with a community pet clinic and grooming spa, the Jolly Groomer.
Jollyes’ Hermiston Gait was the firm’s fifth location to open in Scotland.
Jollyes was recently named Pet Retail Chain of the Year by the Pet Industry Federation after a year of growth and has now also been shortlisted for best retailer under £250m and the speciality retailer of the year in next year’s 2024 Retail Week Awards.
