Gleneagles Townhouse, a lively member’s club, wellness space, all day restaurant and 33-room hotel, is the place to gather and be glorious this festive season. Guests will be wowed by the fairytale woodland-themed decorations inspired by Scottish folklore and flavourful, seasonal menus served in the all-day dining restaurant, The Spence. Furthermore, there is plenty in store for Townhouse members in December, including a lavish Hogmanay house party to welcome 2024.

Festive Feasts at The Spence

The beating heart of The Townhouse, The Spence, has just launched its festive menu, perfect for dining with friends and family gatherings. Head Chef, Jonny Wright, uses exceptional produce from across Scotland to create dishes that evolve with the seasons. The festive menu incorporates comforting flavours that are the essence of Christmas. Show-stopping dishes include wild game terrine with walnut jam and winter truffle or the refreshing heritage beetroot with William’s pear and pickled mustard seeds to start, followed by venison loin, potato puree and red cabbage or a classic roast chicken with pork and apricot stuffing and the classic trimmings for mains. For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert menu features an Ecclefechan tart served with clotted cream and a cherry, cranberry and pistachio parfait with a mulled wine sauce.

To drink, there are also festive cocktails to go alongside, including a Townhouse Bellini, blending orange blossom with vanilla, blood orange and Cremant D’Alsace, or a Rusty Nail, made up of Johnnie Walker Black Label, X by Glenmorangie, Drambuie, Sweetdram Escubac and orange bitters, as well as a classic Mulled Wine.

This menu launched this week (14 November), and will be available until 26 December, served from 12pm-10pm alongside the standard a-la-carte menu.
Tables can be booked HERE.

Christmas Eve & Day at The Spence

Due to popular demand, The Spence will once again open its doors for a festive feast on Christmas Day. The day will start with delicious snacks for the table, including Oscietra caviar blinis; followed by a choice menu featuring a chicken and truffle terrine served with hazelnut and toasted brioche, and west coast dressed crab with apple and coriander to start; for mains, options include crowd pleasers such as beef wellington, served with smoked mashed potatoes and spinach, classic turkey accompanied by sage and pork stuffing and pigs in blankets, and a roasted cauliflower served with tahini and pomegranate; there is a choice of four festive favourites to finish like Christmas pudding and Bailey’s sauce or winter berry trifle.

The set menu is £155 per person and served on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, including a glass of Veuve Clicquot on arrival. To enquire about a booking please visit the website HERE.

The Spence X Alby’s Festive Breakfast Sandwich

The Spence recently announced its partnership with Edinburgh's beloved Alby's to create the ultimate festive breakfast sandwich. Full of festive flavour, this menu special is a breakfast sandwich is house-made focaccia filled with sage and cranberry-stuffed porchetta, the Spence brown sauce, matchsticks fries and celeriac remoulade. For each sandwich sold, The Spence will donate 50p to Social Bite – a charity on a mission to end homelessness. This donation will support the charity’s annual Christmas campaign – Festival of Kindness - which aims to provide hot Christmas meals and gifts to people most in need over the winter months through donations from kind-hearted locals. Gleneagles has supported the work of Social Bite since 2018 for its hugely successful mass sleep out events.
The Townhouse has been working with Social Bite since opening in 2022 and this new initiative further cements the partnership through the city outpost.

Reservations for The Spence can now be made HERE, with The Spence X Alby’s breakfast sarnie available from 1 November – 30 December, Monday – Friday from 7am to 10:30am and Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 10:30am, £12, with 50p from each sandwich donated to Social Bite.
