A major coup for Innis & Gunn, brewer of Scotland’s Premium Lager, partnering with the iconic winter festival for the first time.
Edinburgh Christmas really is the most wonderful time for a beer as Scotland’s premium Lager, Innis & Gunn, is named as the official beer partner for the Capitals’s world renowned seven-week festive celebration running from Friday 17 November 2023 to Saturday 6 January 2024.
This is the first time in the Festival’s history that the markets are showcasing an all-Scottish beer line up with Innis & Gunn serving up its award-winning Lager, Single Malt Whisky Cask matured Original, Session IPA, Lager 0.0% (in cans) and a new festive Mulled Beer across all bars over four festival sites in the city centre - East Princes Street Gardens, the Festive Family Funfair at West Princes Street Gardens, George Street, and St Andrew Square.
Scotland is a land of beer and whisky, rather than wine, and so it is no surprise that Mulled Beer is a time-honoured Scottish winter treat, traditionally made from strong ale, whisky and spices, the original winter warmer. Innis & Gunn’s Mulled Beer is based on the brewer’s multi-award, winning single malt whisky cask matured beer, The Original; gently warmed with the addition of Scotch whisky and aromatic spices to create a delicious and warming drink to beat the winter chill.
Edinburgh Christmas is expected to attract up to three million visitors, with a diverse programme of entertainment, traditional Christmas markets, funfair rides, a Ferris wheel, live events at the Ross Bandstand, a Santa’s Grotto, and the return of the Ice rink, among other attractions. Innis & Gunn will also be setting up an Après Ski Bar on George Street, offering the perfect pit stop for festivalgoers to enjoy their beer and refresh.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Dougal Gunn Sharp, Founder and Master Brewer of Innis & Gunn said:
“Edinburgh Christmas is one of the most iconic festivals in the world, nominated for Europe’s Best Christmas Destination 2024. It’s a real privilege for Innis & Gunn, Scotland’s leading premium beer business, to be named as the official beer sponsor, especially in our 20th year.
“I am particularly excited to introduce people to amazing taste experience of our Mulled Beer which is an absolute must try over the festive season.
“We’re delighted to play a part with the festivities and celebrations across the city and look forward to bringing our award-winning beer to the millions of festival goers expected to enjoy the packed programme of events planned. Innis & Gunn is renowned for bringing people together for great experiences and this new partnership culminates a year of major sponsorships including The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Royal Highland Show and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in Inverness."
Al Thomson, co-director Unique Assembly, added:
“As Edinburgh gets ready to present another spectacular winter events programme, we are incredibly proud to partner with Innis & Gunn on Edinburgh’s Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations, bringing together the very best of the capital, with local events and products that are proudly Scottish and loved by visitors from around the world.
"Christmas and Hogmanay are about coming together to celebrate, and we are proud to have a completely Scottish beer range on tap across all our bars at Edinburgh's winter festivals. So whether it's a festive tipple with colleagues or catching up with family and friends, we couldn't think of a better brand to support that than Innis & Gunn, and we know that it'll be made all the more special with their award-winning product range and mulled beer on offer."
