Edinburgh Social Enterprise launches the Even Greener Menu: a sustainable catering innovation set to tackle food waste
Craigmillar-based social enterprise, Edinburgh Food Social is delighted to launch the Even Greener Menu, a groundbreaking innovation in wedding catering that pairs locally-sourced, seasonal produce with a commitment to tackling food waste. This transformative new menu option not only champions environmental responsibility but also offers a discounted rate for those committed to ethical and sustainable sourcing for their weddings and events.
Edinburgh Food Social is a social enterprise working towards food justice by educating and empowering young people and communities to engage with local, seasonal food. Event catering supports our community food projects which provide food education, interactive learning opportunities and community meals to locals in Craigmillar, and widely across Edinburgh.
The Even Greener Menu showcases Scotland’s finest produce while creatively using intercepted surplus ingredients that would otherwise go to waste. By opting for this eco-conscious menu, customers can be assured that their event makes a positive impact on the environment, without compromising on taste or quality. In choosing the Even Greener Menu, couples can also save the stress (or even fights!) that can happen when planning a wedding menu.
Highlights of the Even Greener Menu include inventive twists on signature starters, mains, salads, and desserts—all available at a discounted rate of 10%. Edinburgh Food Social’s skilled chefs craft each dish using seasonal, sustainable, and intercepted ingredients ensuring an exceptional dining experience. The process is simple: customers select the number of courses and dishes they desire, specify dietary preferences and any culinary preferences, and the catering team takes care of the rest.
The Even Greener Menu reflects Edinburgh Food Social’s dedication to promoting locally-grown, seasonal produce, not only for its superior taste but also because it is better for the planet. With this unique approach, the Even Greener Menu avoids unnecessary air miles, carbon emissions, and food waste by collaborating with local organisations to intercept surplus food and turn it into delicious, inventive dishes.
Kirsty Haigh, Head of Edinburgh Food Social says:
"As we unveil the Even Greener Menu, we embrace a transformative approach to wedding and event catering. This isn't just a menu; it's a commitment to a positive environmental impact and a unique, discounted catering experience tailored for your event. It's a marriage of good food and environmental responsibility— a new offering for Scotland's eco-conscious couples. The Even Greener Menu sets a new precedent for the Scottish catering industry and empowers our collective journey towards a more sustainable food future.”
Join us in celebrating the Even Greener Menu—a step towards a greener, more sustainable culinary future. Let us create an unforgettable dining experience for your event while making a difference in the fight against food waste and in support of our planet.
