18th October 2023: The Steam Dreams Rail. Co, the provider of unique and magical steam train journeys, today announces its scenic Forth Bridge Lunchtime Tour, an exclusive journey featuring one of the great railway engineering masterpieces of the world, Forth Bridge. The trip departs Edinburgh Waverley railway station at 11.00 on Saturday, 25th November 2023 before returning to Edinburgh Waverley at 15.30.
Proudly hauled by the iconic Sir Nigel Gresley steam locomotive, the scenic four and a half hour journey begins by travelling over the towering structure of The Forth Bridge, with striking views across to the road bridge and of the sea. Leaving Fife, the train follows the route along the coast towards Kirkcaldy, passing the castle and beach at Aberdour and the beaches at Burntisland and Kinghorn, before turning back inland via Dunfermline. The train will then head along the Forth Estuary onto a rarely used goods only line, journeying along the coastline before passing the historic village of Culross and the edge of Torry Bay Local Nature Reserve. The train then passes through Alloa and along the reopened route to Stirling, looping round the Western end of the estuary. Having crossed the Forth River at Stirling, it then heads south through Falkirk, before arriving back at Edinburgh Waverley.
This trip has proved extremely popular but there is some availability in Pullman Dining. Guests will be served a welcome glass of champagne, a bottle of wine per couple and a three-course menu created on-board using fresh, locally sourced seasonal produce. Passengers will be spoiled by the tantalising aromas and heavenly flavours from the new elevated dining experience meticulously designed by Executive Chef, Nicholas Allen. Diners will be seated in elegantly restored vintage carriages featuring beautiful wood panelling and period details, alongside a distinctive livery. The highest level of service and comfort creates an unforgettable experience reminiscent of a bygone era, enhanced by original windows and armchair seating at tables of four, laid with crisp linen and embellished with fine crockery, fresh flowers, and glassware.
Available at £259 per person.
