Edinburgh, Scotland – From punk to pioneer - Tommy Crooks has the t-shirt! From international guitarist in “the most prolific cult band of the British post-punk movement”*, ‘The Fall’, to the founder of an international natural skincare company, Tranent based Tommy Crooks is a man of many talents.
But his talents don’t stop there. A true entrepreneur, he has taken his local East Lothian based organic skincare business, The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company, which started at his kitchen table twelve years ago, beyond the Edinburgh high street and his two Edinburgh shops, to become an international success story. His business has recently expanded internationally into Asia, becoming THE FIRST SCOTTISH BUSINESS IN ANY SECTOR to open a TMall Global Flagship Store in China.
This exciting news comes at a time of huge international expansion for the family run Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company which also has had exposure in Japan for four years. The company was approached this year by the organisers of Best Body Japan 2022. The bodybuilding event were looking for a natural cream for their competitors which led to an official sponsorship by The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company. Competitors covered themselves in their Luxury No.1 whipped body butter.
Self taught Mandarin speaker, Tommy Crooks managing director for The Edinburgh Natural Skincare Company, made the decision to grow globally commenting, “When we started crafting at the kitchen table in 2010, often working late into the night, we had no idea there would be world-wide demand for our products. Currently we have two stores in Edinburgh but selling to the world through online marketplaces such as Alibaba.com takes our business to another level. As a 100% natural handmade skincare business, we’re also very well placed to take advantage of the quality and heritage associated with British brands. It’s incredibly exciting to be able to turn our export ambitions into reality.”
Whilst Tommy has been travelling extensively to expand his business worldwide, his focus currently returns home to his heritage as the company gears up for a magical festive season, not only in their two Edinburgh stores, Cockburn Street & Victoria Street, but also at their stall at Edinburgh’s Christmas market, which opens on the 25th November in Princes Street Gardens.
The company, which employs thirteen staff in the UK and nine in China, looks forward to unveiling their ‘scentsational’ Dickensian style Christmas shop displays and market stall at the Edinburgh Christmas Market later this month. Their locally made gorgeous eco-friendly skincare products make the perfect Christmas gifts and ‘tis the season’ to enjoy their bestselling luxury solid hand creams, oils and lip balms, perfect for locking in moisture and keeping hands and lips protected from the cold this winter.
Whether you are looking for heart warming Christmas gifts, stocking fillers or just a special little something for yourself, you'll be sure to find something you love when you visit one of the Edinburgh Natural Skincare Co. stores this festive season. Their market stall will be opening at Edinburgh Christmas Market on the 25th of November until the 3rd of January 2023.
