Edinburgh band nominated for Scottish Jazz Awards 2022

Edinburgh group Tenement Jazz Band are among those nominated for the Scottish Jazz Awards 2022, in the Best Band category sponsored by Inhouse Event Productions.

Nominees for the 10th edition of the Scottish Jazz Awards have been announced, with the public vote open at noon on Thursday 10 November, to decide which of the stars of the thriving scene will be honoured.

The awards will take place at the Savings Bank in Glasgow on Thursday 8th December, where Scotland’s incredible jazz talent will be recognised.

The public will have until 5pm, Friday 25 November to vote for their favourite vocalist, band, instrumentalist, and more.

A carefully selected shortlist has been chosen by a panel of industry specialists, including media, press and promoters from across the UK, alongside last year’s winners who were ineligible to be nominated in the same category. It’s now up to the public to decide which acts will be crowned winners.

Albums released between 1 October 2021 – 30 September 2022 were eligible to be nominated in the Best Album category.

Jill Rodger, Director of Glasgow Jazz Festival and Producer of the Scottish Jazz Awards, said: “The Scottish Jazz Awards are always a pinnacle moment for the jazz scene in Scotland. There is so much talent to celebrate and we would like to congratulate everyone on their much-deserved nominations. It’s now down to the public to further explore the talent we have across the country and cast their vote over the coming weeks!”

The talent that’s overflowing in every category here is absolute proof of that. As public voting opens, the Scottish Jazz Awards give everyone a chance to celebrate not only the individual nominees but also a vibrant sector that’s currently attracting the eyes and ears of music fans and industry professionals at home and abroad. Congratulations to all the artists who are giving Scotland’s culture such a boost.”
