The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) has celebrated an outstanding £3 million worth of funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery by treating their troop of endangered chimpanzees to a carrot and parsnip feast.
Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped support RZSS’s vital wildlife conservation and research projects in Scotland and around the world and allowed both Edinburgh Zoo and Highland Wildlife Park to develop new enclosures over their years of support.
As well as being part of the European Endangered Species breeding programme, RZSS has funded vital conservation efforts for chimpanzees in the Budongo forest in Uganda since 2005. Supported by RZSS, the Budongo Conservation Field Station (BCFS) combines research and practical action to ensure sustainable management and use of the Budongo Forest Reserve where there are currently over 430 chimpanzees being monitored across eight sites.
