Edinburgh care home shortlisted for top national award
A care home in Edinburgh is celebrating after making the shortlist at a national award ceremony.
Care UK’s Murrayside, on South Beechwood, has been shortlisted in the Care Establishment of the Year category for its commitment to recognising the dietary needs of individuals and ensuring there is always a variety of nutritious dishes on offer.
The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards recognises those working in and associated with catering in the UK care sector. Team members at Murrayside have been praised for ensuring that residents dine with dignity, have plenty of choice, and are served great food that looks, tastes and is of the same standard as fine dining.
Iain Young, head chef at Murrayside, said: “Whether we’re creating appetising dishes that are easier to consume, or baking cakes for residents to enjoy with a cup of tea, we strive to make a positive impact on residents’ health and wellbeing through nutrition and hydration. I’m over the moon that the Murrayside catering team has been shortlisted for this award - fingers crossed we win!”
Fran Long, home manager at Murrayside, added: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted in the Care Establishment of the Year category at this year’s NACC Awards. Our team members work incredibly hard to ensure that mealtimes are enjoyable, and that there is always a variety of tasty and nutritious meals on offer each day.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Iain and the whole catering team at Murrayside, we’re so proud of what you achieve every day, and it’s fantastic that your hard work has been recognised nationally.”
Murrayside care home has been specially designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and has its own cinema, hair salon and café.
