Edinburgh Bach Choir

First formed in 1910, the Edinburgh Bach Choir is an adult, mixed-voice choir of up to 100 singers. We welcome new singers and regularly hold open rehearsals.

We normally perform three concerts a year, one of which is dedicated to JS Bach. Our repertoire in recent years ranged from 16th to 20th century composers: Monteverdi to Constant Lambert, Byrd to Duruflé, Handel to Stravinsky.

The core of our activity is our Tuesday night rehearsals. We meet from 7.15pm in St Cuthbert's Church, Lothian Road, EH1 2EP.

Our musical director is Stephen Doughty, a distinguished conductor, choral master, arranger and orchestrator affiliated with various groups, including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus.

Our accompanist is Malcolm Garden, a highly esteemed pianist, cellist and organist who gives public performances frequently, and a founder member of the Edinburgh Bach Ensemble.
