Did you know the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh was founded in 1505? That’s where we got our name from. We opened over 500 years later in 2015 as a venture to support the College, and have since grown into our own little corner of the community with a vision to do more.
We sell healthy meals and snacks, coffees and teas, cakes and treats and even glasses of wine. Our coffee is Grown by Women - helping to restore a gender balance in cooperatives with the knock-on effect of positively influencing health and education in farmers’ communities. We’re also doing our best to serve more vegetarian and vegan dishes so that everyone has the option of eating with us.
Because we’re part of the College, our profits help to fund surgical training and research around the world, benefiting thousands and thousands of patients. So, next time you’re in the area come in and see us, and don’t say no to that extra slice of cake.
