We also host the annual international Smallsword Symposium.

The sword was an integral part of European society, in warfare and civilian life, and the study of its use was a highly prized art.

At Black Boar, we teach students this art and the real-world application of historical weaponry. Wielding a sword in combat is exciting, challenging and rewarding.

Whether you're a complete beginner or have prior experience, new students are always welcome. With our friendly and inclusive community, and classes every Monday and Thursday evening (7pm to 8:30pm), there's never been a better time to take up swordplay!

We're based in the Heriot's Centre for Sport and Exercise, a modern sports facility just off the Grassmarket in the city centre.

Individual class tickets can be purchased for £15, or unlimited access to classes can be purchased with a £50 monthly membership subscription.

To find out more, and for booking and payment, please visit our website.

Participants must be aged 18 years or over.
