Almaborealis is the creation of knitwear designer Maija Nygren.
Maija started knitting and crocheting at 5 years old with her Finnish grandmother and made her first five needle mittens at school at the age of 6. Maija wants to continue her passion for making things, but also to share the love for making our own stuff.
For Almaborealis, Maija creates knitwear that challenges fast fashion and lack of interaction with our clothes, long lasting knitwear, designed to be repaired, extended and worn for many years. Maija believes that clothing, as any other material goods in our lives, ought to be designed to have an infinite life cycle.
We run a range of creative workshops for all ages. All our products are knitted in our Leith studio using with 100% softest Scottish lambswool, durable for many years of adventures and naturally biodegradable, leaving no plastic trace for future generations to clean up.
OSKA designs let you feel good with comfortable and flexible fits giving you freedom to move. Our fabrics have a pleasant feel and display their natural and authentic character.
