It is our mission to place the artist, viewer, user and participant at the heart of all our activities.
GSS supports a vibrant community of professional artists who focus on innovative sculptural techniques and practices, providing studio and production facilities, alongside staff expertise, to foster a vibrant community of artists. In parallel to this we enhance the public’s understanding and awareness of contemporary sculptural practice both nationally and internationally through a range of Public Programmes.
Our integrated Public Programme consist of commissions, residencies, exhibitions, education and interpretation projects, which attract and inform significant audiences as well as providing artists with platforms and opportunities for debate and critique, as well as developing the discourse on contemporary sculptural practice.
These ambitious, pioneering and challenging artist support programmes and innovative public programmes are visible and relevant locally, while being nationally and internationally aware.
By enabling artistic production, critical debate and dissemination of contemporary visual art in the three dimensional form, we help to develop the careers and reputation of artists and an understanding of their artistic practice on a local, national and international level, making GSS a vital platform for all who wish to understand, participate in and embrace contemporary three-dimensional artistic practice.
