19th September: Linzi Upton - The Quilted Yurt and other Daft 3D Ideas!
The Glasgow Gathering of Quilters is pleased to welcome Linzi Upton – the Quilt Quine - who has exhibited in the UK, The Netherlands, Hungary, and the USA, and is best known as the creator of Quilted Yurts.
Linzi, whose quilt ‘Help Ma Boab’ won 1st Place - Contemporary Quilts at the 2023 Festival of Quilts Birmingham, will present her creative work in a talk titled 'The Quilted Yurt and other Daft 3D Ideas!'
17th October: The Quilters' Guild of the British Isles - Traditional Group Suitcase Collection
The Glasgow Gathering of Quilters welcomes members of the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles (Traditional Group), who will present their Suitcase Collection, a travelling exhibition of 28 unique 18" square quilts, inspired by the theme of seasons.
16th January: Gillian Cooper, textile artist and esteemed teacher
Tonight's talk is an exploration of Gillian Cooper’s recent work inspired by her MA in Contemporary Art and Archaeology coursework.
Gillian is a textile artist with a flourishing teaching practice. She has years of experience teaching classes and is particularly passionate about helping adults find their way in art, concentrating primarily on the City & Guilds courses in patchwork & quilting and creative sketchbooks. Gillian has exhibited widely, both in the UK and overseas. Recent exhibitions include ‘Presence: A Sense of Time and Place’ at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh in conjunction with Samantha Townsend.

The Glasgow Gathering of Quilters is pleased to welcome Kay Leech, who will give us an insight in her creative textile journey.
Kay won the 2022 City and Guilds Student Award. Her work is contemporary and experimental, inspired by the textures, patterns and colours in the natural world of her home territory in Cumbria. She is Exhibition Coordinator of QGBI Contemporary Group.
