From Mary Queen of Scots to the modern day, this lecture looks at the jewels of a nation and those in public and private collections, and in potrtais. It will provide an insight into the proud history of goldsmithing and and the story of jewellery in Scotland, including The Scottish Regalia.
Clare Blatherwick is an independent jewellery consultant based in Scotland. she has over twenty years of experience in the jewellery business, ten of which were spent as Head of Jewellery for Bonhams in Scotland, a role which saw her travel internationally searching for wonderful jewels to be auctioned around the globe. She has a keen interest in the historical aspect of jewellery and has lectured extensively on her subject. She has also appeared on various television programmes in the UK and the US as a jewellery expert. Clare is alos a member of The Society of Jewellery Historians.
COSTS:
Our membership fee for our 2023/24 lecture series is £55 for a single membership and £100 for joint membership.
Other events are optional extras.
All are welcome.
Visitors to a lecture are invited to leave a suggested donation of £8.
Complimentary teas and coffees are served after lectures.
