Edinburgh foodie hub rolls out family Easter egg hunt

One of Edinburgh’s most popular foodie destinations has announced plans to stage its first outdoor family Easter egg hunt on Good Friday (Friday 2nd April) from 10am-1pm.
Morningside’s ‘McLarens on the Corner’ has appointed a dedicated Community & Events Coordinator to kick start an ongoing programme of family and community events around Edinburgh from the Easter weekend as lockdown restrictions start to be eased.
Hannah McConnachie, 29, from Stockbridge, will be helping families come together outdoors for the first time since with a series of activities and a new Easter menu.
Children and their families are being challenged to follow a trail around the Morningside find ten eggs, which have been bouncing, rolling, skipping and hopping across the local community. When they find them, youngsters are encouraged to copy each activity by completing ten bunny hops and ten star jumps. Once they have found all the Good Eggs, children can collect their prize from McLarens on the Corner at Holy Corner on Morningside Road.
McLarens will be offering an Easter-themed set weekly meal club menu, including caramelised onion and rosemary focaccia; Clyde Valley lamb; and an Easter Sundae; as well as a sweet twist on the traditional Scotch Egg and Easter-themed bubble waffles and milkshakes from McLarens’ Scranavan food truck.
McLarens on the Corner has continued to be community hub for Edinburgh foodies throughout lockdown, offering restaurant quality dining and street food for collection and delivery, as well as cocktails and craft ale.
The Morningside venue is the most recent opening by Scottish hospitality collection, Signature Group, which also operates Cold Town House in the Grassmarket; The Huxley on Rutland Street; Copper Blossom on Gorge Street; Badger & Co on Castle Street, and a number of other quality food and drink venues across the capital and the rest of Scotland.
McLarens is the second new venue to be opened by Signature Group in the last two years. Flagship venue for Cold Town Beer, Cold Town House, opened in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket in March 2019.
A graduate of Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University, Hannah has over 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, including former key roles supporting local community events at Signature’s other venues in St Andrews and the Bridge of Allan. Hannah will now be focussed on engaging the wider Edinburgh community and rebuilding public confidence in the hospitality industry across all of Signature Group’s venues.
Commenting on her new community and events role for the Edinburgh-based Signature Group, Hannah, said:
“I’m really excited to be taking on this new role in time for the Easter weekend and helping Edinburgh families make the most of the city’s fantastic outdoor public spaces.
“We’ve got a tasty new Easter menu on offer too, so people can enjoy a picnic in their local park or garden. I’m a big fan of Bruntsfield Links, which is really handy for enjoying a Bubble Waffle and a refreshing drink from McLarens’ Scranavan.”
Hannah continued:
“During lockdown it has been difficult for us to fully engage with our Edinburgh customers, but with my new dedicated role, I’m really looking forward to finding more creative and fun ways for us to reach out to them once again. I think it will be a really rewarding role with a real sense of accomplishment.
“We cannot thank the local community enough for their support and enthusiasm that has allowed us to begin finding our new normal after lockdown. McLarens has been a hub for the local Morningside community since we opened in 2019 and we look forward to continuing that role as we slowly emerge from lockdown.

McLarens on the Corner celebrates the work of former Edinburgh Lord Provost, Duncan McLaren, who served from 1833 to 1881. Described as the ‘rescuer of the city’, McLaren was responsible for restoring Edinburgh’s finances after it ran into bankruptcy. As well as his financial expertise, in 1835 he pioneered free education for all classes, opened the Meadows to the public and established the Industrial Museum, now the National Museum of Scotland.
