Macdonald Resorts is seeing a marked increase in demand for its self-catering accommodation, as people opt for safe staycations within their family bubbles at some of the UK’s most remarkable destinations.

The latest research* highlighted that 41% of those planning a Scottish staycation were opting for self-catering accommodation due to the safety and independence it offers, and other parts of the UK are experiencing similar trends.

As well as providing safe accommodation, a break at a Macdonald Resorts also offers the opportunity to enjoy a holiday setting amongst beautiful scenery, with space to roam and enjoy the great outdoors.

Macdonald Resorts has five locations across the UK, offering a ‘home from home’ in some of the most picturesque locations, making the toughest decision which resort to visit. Guests can choose a staycation destination in resorts located at the tip of the Snowdonia National Park in Wales, on the edge of the New Forest, alongside Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and even the picturesque Cairngorms.

Both Macdonald Spey Valley and Macdonald Lochanhully are ideally placed for exploring the Cairngorms National Park and the Scottish Highlands as well as being in close proximity to Aviemore.

Macdonald Forest Hills Resort in the heart of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park offers guests views over Loch Ard as well as a backdrop of beautiful mountains.

Macdonald Elmers Court Resort on the edge of the New Forest is set within a magnificent 23-acre country estate with views over the Solent while Macdonald Plas Talgarth Resort, located in Snowdonia National Park, offers the best of both worlds and is within easy reach of both mountains and seas.

Michael Stott, Chief Executive Officer for Macdonald Resorts, said: “2020 has been very challenging, and we know that people are keen for a change of scenery and to enjoy a break.

“However, we also understand that there is still a sense of nervousness and at Macdonald Resorts the safety of our guests and staff is our number one priority which is why we have introduced a number of hygiene and safety measures.

“Our accommodation is a ‘home from home’ providing peace of mind and the perfect base for children to play or for families to walk and explore and spend quality time together.

“Our stunning resorts are ideally located to provide a much-needed chance to recharge the batteries whether that’s relaxing and soaking in the beautiful scenery, or by enjoying a more action-packed break with cycling and water-sports.”

All Macdonald Resorts are following Government guidance and have also introduced new exacting standards of hygiene and safety for all guests. The policies entitled ‘Safe & Sound’ focus on safe ways of working, social distancing and hygiene.

On-site restaurants are open* at Macdonald Forest Hills, Spey Valley and Elmers Court with takeaways available at Macdonald Lochanhully and Plas Talgarth Resorts.

Pools, spas and children’s play facilities will remain closed in line with Government advice with the exception of Macdonald Plas Talgarth Resort.

Macdonald Resorts currently is currently offering up to 30% off all autumn breaks until 5th November.

Prices start from £24.25 per person per night based on minimum 4 persons sharing.
