The one-night-only event will celebrate the women reshaping rugby in a traditionally male-dominated sport.
Taking place at Bonnie & Wild in Edinburgh on Thursday 16th April, ahead of the highly-anticipated Scotland v England match in the Guinness Women’s Six Nations, ’Beyond the Whistle’ will spotlight leadership, progress and the power of representation across the game. The event forms part of The Famous Grouse’s long standing partnership with Scottish Rugby and its ongoing support of grassroots rugby across the men’s and women’s game.
This comes as women’s rugby in Scotland reaches new heights with the Scotland v England clash at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on 18th April expected to draw the largest crowd ever recorded for a standalone women’s sporting event in Scotland.
The event taps into this pivotal moment for the sport, bringing together leading voices from across the women’s game. Hosted by broadcaster and Murrayfield match-day announcer Caroline Blair, the panel features an exceptional line-up of talent at the top of their game, featuring one of the most accomplished and respected rugby referees in the world, Hollie Davidson, Scottish international players Sarah Bonar and Lisa Thomson and Gemma Fay, Managing Director of Scottish Rugby Women.
The discussion will cover what it takes to reach the top, challenge perceptions and create meaningful pathways for the next generation, both on and off the pitch.
Guests attending the event will enjoy The Famous Grouse cocktails and canapés, alongside an evening of candid conversation and insight from women driving change in the rugby world.
The ‘Beyond the Whistle’ event comes following a highly successful series of panel discussions with Scottish rugby legend, Greig Laidlaw, also held at Bonnie & Wild.
