In today’s world, we are regularly bombarded with information, accosted by unwanted interactions, hit with surprises, and expected to deal with challenging people, places and experiences when we don’t have the bandwidth. This can feel confrontational at best, blood-boiling at worst. Anger is a feeling that makes many people uncomfortable or fearful, yet it is an extremely common experience.
But what is rage really, and how can we deal with it when we don’t have any spare plates to throw at a wall, or a nearby void to scream into? Better yet, how might we harness anger and use it for good? After all, angry people get stuff done. Most of the change-makers through history were angry about something and used their anger as fuel.
A contemplative and participatory workshop seeking to explore the ways in which rage and anger manifest in our daily lives, and how we can creatively and therapeutically channel and manage it, asking questions like: What does it mean to be angry? Why do we fear such a powerful part of ourselves? What could our anger fuel if we gave it voice and permission? How might it change our experience of the world if not the world itself?
Hosted and led by writer, director and producer Catriona MacLeod of _and friends, and therapist Phil Shaw from Edinburgh-based practice Room for Therapy.
