About Eva Dijkstra: Quiet Complexity

Listed Under Exhibitions Events

Eva Dijkstra draws on the language of minimalist painting, primarily working with shaped canvases that sit between sculpture and painting. She seeks to dissolve the boundary between object and image, crafting intricate wooden three-dimensional supports over which canvas is stretched and treated with paint or pure pigment.

A distinctive feature of her work is the second-layer reveal. Each piece originates in data, a hidden narrative beneath the surface. Dijkstra translates ‘found’ numbers into precisely constructed diagrams that form the foundation of her compositions, transforming raw data into visual poetry that merges analytical rigour with artistic expression.

From this process emerge bold, colourful compositions - both exact and abstract, never obvious yet always relevant. The result is a harmonious blend of minimalism, data and complexity: unexpected, vibrant and, above all, meaningful.
