Clay, one of our oldest materials, is returned to as a site of risk and possibility: dug, mixed, thrown, built, fractured, glazed, and changed irrevocably by heat. Coburg Kiln II gathers work shaped by earth and fire: by hands that press, repeat, repair, and relinquish control.
Across sculptural, experimental, conceptual, and beautifully designed homeware, the exhibition traces clay in flux. Forms slump and hold; surfaces blister, crack, and seal; objects carry the memory of touch, weight, and time. Here, ceramics are understood not as static outcomes, but as collaborations between maker, material, and kiln: where transformation is never fully predictable. Featuring both emerging and established makers, Coburg Kiln II foregrounds practices that test endurance, precision, and intuition at the limits of form and process.
This years exhibition features work from Angeni Perez, Beth Lamont, Emma Sutherland, George Perry, Laura Lightbody, The Potter of Leith: Andy Lang, Will Carey and Yimou Huang.
