Join us for an exclusive Trouser-Fitting Masterclass. Trouser-fitting can often feel like one of the trickiest sewing challenges, especially when dealing with specific body shapes and proportions. Join us to tackle common fitting issues and show you how to create trousers that fit like they were made just for you.
Our experienced instructor, Sarah Cuthbert, brings over 40 years of expertise in womens' wear in the fashion industry and runs her own sportswear consultancy. Sarah will take you step by step through the fitting process, helping you understand how to work from your toile to create a custom pattern that ensures your trousers fit perfectly every time.
Sewists often encounter a range of fitting problems when it comes to trousers: gaping waists, tight or loose fits around the hips, uneven hemlines, 'whiskering' or discomfort in the crotch area. Whether you have a fuller abdomen, curvier hips, rounded or flat buttocks, or struggle with waist gaping or tightness, we’ll guide you through the process of fitting trousers that complement your body shape. This masterclass focuses on using a toile (a mock-up garment) to identify and resolve fitting issues.
Working with your toile, you will learn the essential techniques for adjusting patterns and making modifications, including:
Creating the perfect waist-to-hip ratio
Adjusting for full abdomens or curvy hips
Fixing gaping or tight waistbands
Achieving a balanced rise and crotch fit
Ensuring smooth and flattering lines from the waistband to the hem
