Use nature and storytelling as a starting point to experiment with new techniques. This half term course is for creative 9-12 year olds who love to draw, paint and make.
Each day a new technique will be introduced and explored. We’ll start by drawing with ink and charcoal, followed by water-based painting and printmaking, before working up to making 3D installations using found objects and clay. The tutor will introduce artists such as Rithika Merchant, Andy Goldsworthy, Ilana Halparin, and Jackie Mulder, who we can use as inspirations for our creations.
Throughout the week, we will each create a sketchbook of ideas and inspiration, and a final piece (or pieces) to share together at the end of the course.
Within our small, nurturing community, we encourage each student to develop their individual artistic voice and learn new skills. Our Young Artists courses are for small groups of up to 15 young people, led by a dedicated team of Tutor and Studio Assistant, both of whom are practising artists. All core materials and equipment are provided.
There may be the option to book for individual days on this course. Please enquire at enquiries@leithschoolofart.co.uk
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
