About Woman of the Year (1942)
This classic Hollywood odd-couple romcom pits woman of the world political correspondent and columnist Tess Harding (Katharine Hepburn) against lad-about-town sportswriter Sam Craig (Spencer Tracy). Before long this unlikely duo are head-over-heels in love. But after the honeymoon, the realities of their working situation and their career expectations kick in.
George Stevens (Shane, The Diary of Anne Frank)directs real-life Hollywood couple Hepburn and Tracy in a romcom that revels in the perceived class disparities in their own images. It's the classic template for all future workplace romcoms.
